It’s Our History” - 2017 Video Contest

The Lincoln County Historical Association (LCHA) invites you to participate in its first ever “It’s Our History” contest. Sign up to explore aspects of our country’s history at the Association’s three historic sites, using research and the medium of video.

To participate: If you live in Lincoln County and are between ages 10 and 18, you are eligible to enter. You may work on your own, or with a group of young people. Just one entry per participant, however. Those related to the judges are not eligible to participate. Registrations must be received by June 30, 2017. An e-mail acknowledging the receipt of your registration will be sent to you along with directions for up-loading your video.

Contest Guidelines:

  • Be creative!
  • Your video should be 5 to 10 minutes long, maximum length 3 GB in size.
  • Any music, photographs, or videos you include must be legally available for use.
  • Design your video to be viewed by audiences of all ages.
  • You can choose your own title, based on the theme “It’s Our History.”
  • Footage of all three museums is to be included (Chapman-Hall house, Pownalborough Court House, Old Jail and Jailer’s Home).
  • Include two or more primary sources and at least one interview with a local individual whose knowledge relates to the LCHA historic sites and/or local history. Suggestions:

  • Keep in mind that LCHA may use your video to teach about Lincoln County History.
  • Upload your completed video by July 30, 2017 – instructions will be e-mailed to you.

Judging and Prizes: Your video will be judged on its creativity, following the Guidelines, historical accuracy, and video quality. Two prizes, each of $100 will be awarded: one for participants ages 10 -13, and the other for ages 14-18. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded at the LCHA Summer Social on August 26, 2017.
